TABE Test Scores
The TABE (Tests of Adult Basic Education) is a test from Data Recognition Corporation (DRC), used in adult basic education programs nationwide to assess skills in Reading, Mathematics and Language. Your scale score in each subject places you in one of six National Reporting System (NRS) levels, using the US Department of Education's table: for example, Reading 501–535 is Level 3, Low Intermediate Basic Education.

TABE score chart
Levels 2 to 6 are the same for both versions. Level 1 starts at 300 on TABE 11/12 and at 310 on TABE 13/14 (the table gives the 13/14 figure for TABE level E). Mathematics uses different names from Reading and Language at levels 4 to 6.

Is TABE 11/12 still used?

The US Department of Education's approval of TABE 11/12 for National Reporting System use expired on September 7, 2024. States could keep using it during a sunset period, which was extended to June 30, 2026. No later extension was found.
